3 “Niche Myths” that get in the way of your success

Here goes!
Myth #1 – I can help a lot of different kinds of people with different kinds of problems. Why should I specialize?
I get it.
You have amazing experience and expertise, and there are likely a host of transformations that you could support your clients to create.
But if you don’t tell potential clients specifically what will be different after they work with you, they’ll likely never be attracted to you in the first place.
Only when your message is crystal clear on the transformation and results you’ll support them around will they “lean in” and say, “I want that.”.
And they need to do that before you can turn them into a client.
Myth #2 – If I narrow my niche, it will be harder to find the right people.
Ahh..this one was huge for me!
I had to prove to these old corporate colleagues that I could make a go of this coaching thing.
I needed clients NOW, so why would I narrow down who I’d target (or take on as a client even).
Check out my last email to see how that turned out!
When I got really clear on the specific type of entrepreneur and business model I wanted to work with, how I talked about my business both live and in my marketing was so much clearer.
People nodded and said, “Yes, that’s me!” or “You know, I have a friend, sister, colleague, etc. that needs what you do.”.
I attracted clients I loved more easily, and it felt great to have that surety on who I was!
Myth #3 – Thinking you can figure it out along the way.
Don’t fall into this trap!
So many entrepreneurs I talk to take this approach in lots of areas of their businesses, and so often pay the price.
I often talk about “doing the right things in the right order”.
This is a good example of this.
Declaring your niche is one of the first things you get to do to create a thriving business. (Right after you get clear on your Freedom Formula.)
And I promise if you are torn between two possible niches, just pick one!
Once you have that niche running smoothly and generating a constant stream of leads, you CAN add another niche with messaging targeted to this new group!
