[EO Digest] Clove + Oral Health + Pumpkin Spice Latte

In this week's Essential Oil Digest, I'm going to cover:

The Heart of Health is the Mouth As the "first wave" continues to linger on, and as the "second wave" is being predicted by the medical prophets to be even worse, you're probably like most people and have been wondering how to keep yourself as healthy as possible It's a question that's being ask a lot right now. As always, I encourage you to look beyond just pills and chemical potions to uncover some of the natural remedies for true health. And, you might be overlooking one of the most important things... your mouth. Experts suggest that 80-90% of all chronic diseases originate from poor oral health. Makes sense - the foundation, the very heart of health, begins with your immune system, which is housed in your gastrointestinal system and of which starts in your mouth. According to the CDC, roughly 50% of all Americans over age 30 have gum disease. At its early stages, gum disease may appear with minor symptoms like inflammation, bleeding, and soreness, but as it progresses, people can develop issues like bone and tooth loss. Unfortunately, flossing and brushing your teeth with traditional toothpastes and going to a non-holistic dentist once or twice a year won't be enough. First step is to avoid toxic oral care products, which is pretty much everything that you get at your local grocery store. Second step is to consider buying products without artificial dyes and coloring agents, triclosan and alcohol (mouthwash), fluoride and aspartame (toothpaste). Be sure to stay clear of those "alcohol f.r.e.e" antibacterial mouthwashes in particular (these are the worst) because they are FILLED with chemicals that kill all the bacteria in your mouth (the GOOD and the BAD). Third step is to start oil pulling regularly. Fourth step is to invest in some oral health supplements like CBD. Did you know that researchers have uncovered that CBD can help soothe the inflammation associated with periodontal disease, and can help eliminate tender gums? Check out a NEW formula of CBD that I just love HERE. Fifth step would be to make your own products. Here's a recipe you might want to start off with... Simple Homemade Toothpaste INGREDIENTS

  • Equal parts baking soda and coconut oil (1/4 cup each is good to start with)

  • 1-2 tsp sea salt

  • 5-7 drops essential oils*

  • Optional: 1-2 tsp each stevia or bentonite clay

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix together well.

  2. Place in a small jar or a squeeze bottle.

  3. Use a spoon or disposable wooden scoop to get the paste out and avoid contamination.
