Teriyaki salmon, selenium, chicken salad and more...

Here are my 5 things for you this week! 1. I continually get asked if there are things you can do to feel better if you've had your thyroid removed or ablated, so I wrote an article on this exact topic for you! While you’ll definitely need to be on medications, there are still so many things you can do to support the other parts of your endocrine system, support detoxification, reduce symptoms and feel better!

2. A good chicken salad with fruits and herbs is one of my favorite things to eat during the warmer months.

3. Selenium is important for the conversion of fT4 to fT3 in the liver and to support the thyroid in making thyroid hormones. Studies have also shown that selenium can help reduce TPO antibodies and support the immune system. Here are some of the best food sources of selenium: Brazil nuts Tuna Halibut Sardines Wild shrimp Pastured beef Liver Pastured and/or organic chicken Organic cottage cheese Pastured eggs If you’d like to read more about other foods you can eat to support your thyroid, click here.

4. Our practice, Biodynamic Wellness, has a fabulous article about how to support your immune system during a virus. It's definitely an article to bookmark!

5. Teriyaki Salmon comes together in a matter of minutes. I like to serve it with Cauliflower Fried “Rice”, or I sometimes chop up extra vegetables with the bell pepper for a more colorful meal.

See you next week!
